Collins Barracks is a splendidly restored, early-18th-century military building, but only worth visiting if you're a fan of the decorative arts, as it's been converted into part of the National Museum of Ireland. Until the acquisition of this vast space, only a fraction of the National Museum's collection could be displayed, but more and more treasures have found their way here. Notable collections include a huge display of Irish silver and furniture; a magnificent collection of rare 19th-century art from Tibet, China, and Japan; and an exhibition devoted to the work of the influential Irish designer and architect Eileen Gray (1878-1976).
