(October 25, 2019, 3:42 am)It looks dark and dirty but it's actually clean.Salt water, not fresh water and there's always the chance a dolphin or whale might again stray up the river!

(September 26, 2019, 6:28 am)As rivers go, in itself it's average, though pretty. What makes seeing it important are the social and political historic divides that grew from it, physically and psychologically. Sure, it's not the only river representing such divisions, but separating (e.g.) Iowa and Illinois as the Mississippi does, lacks the ongoing divisiveness of the Foyle. If you're in Derry, you'll see it anyway. Why not stop and consider both its attractiveness and significance?

(September 22, 2019, 12:21 pm)A quiet river. We did not see a single boat in our 4 days in Derry. We like colorful boats like in Dingle. I imagine some must have gone by - we were in sight of the rover for just a few hours.

(August 30, 2019, 2:13 pm)Central to the city, the river is a peaceful spot, with a lovely walkway alongside. The Foyle is a wide river, with a Barbour. It also has two bridges ferrying folk from one side to the other. For a different view of the city a walk across the peace bridge gives a different view, of both this majestic river and the city. Boat trips also available. Enjoy.

Calmness emanates from the blue-way through the city. Paddle Boards are an ideal platform to experience this hush. You view nature up close in the middle of the urban centre’. This 2-hour tour takes you onto a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and out onto the River Foyle.
